I
downloaded this ELD. then tried to put it in a chart, but it said
"study not verified". How can I get this verified so it can work in my
charts? Thanks |

Tachyonv,
I looked and I have build 1869. TS hasn't sent me an upgrade, but I'll
try and download build 2147 or 2148.Where can I find these new builds?
Thanks |

You have to wait until TS enables you to donwload the updated versions. It's a controlled rollout of the new versions. |

Tachy, Thank
you so very much for this gift. This is an excellent piece of work.
The documentation you have provided is unheard of. You are kind and
generous man. D |

Tachyonv, As
I mentioned to you in my PM, Thank you so much for your GENEROUS
spirit. Sharing this methodology with the world after the intensive
months of writing, testing. and tweaking the code, and then to add the
phenomenal documentation to support it is beyond generousity. I,
by nature, am one of those people that believe in automated systems
trading, and therefore toil endlessly to learn from the elite
contributors in this forum ( I won't mention names to avoid leaving out
or insulting anyone). But your methodology lends itself to simple "bread
& butter" descretionary trading that can supplement my other
endeavors. And of course, I will make every effort to "mechanize" any
method that proves consistently profitable (that is my curse). Again, Thank You !!!! |

Tach, thanks for the presentation. Per your suggestion, I am posting my scalping strategy. Hope it isn't too long! This
is a scalping strategy for the mini Russell. I’m going to use Friday’s
charts to describe the trading strategy and point out the potential
trades. I have been studying the Russell for several months and trading
a simulated account trading using the Keltners and a modified RSI as
the primary indicators. Yesterday was my first day of live trades. Along
the way, I wrote a few modifications of standard indicators to help
visualize the trades better. Scalping is a high stress, very fast way
to trade and you must see the trades clearly or get killed. I hope
these modified indicators are useful to some. Thanks to Tachyonv for
bringing the Keltners back for another look. His presentation is
excellent. And thanks to eKam for his never-ending contributions. The
CCISmooth is one of my favorite indicators. I hope that others will consider posting their setups using Keltners so that we can all benefit. I will continue to post progress of real time trades and modifications which I make to the overall strategy. Chart Setup: NOTE:
The ELDs for my paintbars, modified RSI, Heiki Ashi bars, eKam’s
CCISmoothed, Keltner Squeeze and modified RSI signal are below. The
other indicators are standard in TS. The Keltner Channel is set at 21
instead of 20. 30 Minute ER2(Globex) – Standard Keltner Channel; Heiki Ashi paintbars; MACD(12, 26,9); eKam’s “CCISmoothed”, Keltner Squeeze. 3 Minute ER2.D – Standard Keltner Channel; StochUp/Dn paintbars; modified RSI; Classic Stochastic; Momentum indicator. 25
tick ER2.D - Standard Keltner Channel; RSI paintbars; modified RSI;
Classic Stochastic; modified RSI signal (Note – the signal is not a
“strategy”, just a convenience to mark a potential entry point). STOPS:
I always use a “catastrophic” stop of 3 points (the maximum loss I
want to incur on any one trade). My actual, real time stop is
indicator-based. Description of Strategy: 30 Minutes Chart: Chart30Mjpg: Before market opens, check 30 Minute ER2 chart for any suggestion of trend direction. Keltner
Squeeze area, Heiki Ashi bars, MACD, and eKam’s CCISmooth suggest a
possible downward trend (Yellow dot is the opening bar). 3 Minute Chart: Chart3Mjpg: Probable trend is down, at least at the open. Window of trade opportunity: * Paintbar RED (classic stoch down), * Keltners angle down, * price bars are below Keltner mid-line; * modified RSI heading down, * momentum negative. 25 tick Chart: Under the conditions described above, look for a trade setup on the 25 tick chart. POTENTIAL TRADES: Chart1jpg: *
Trade entry point is when modified RSI crosses below overbought. If
it’s a second or third trade in the same direction, wait for a tick
lower than the most recent low to enter the trade. * Modified RSI paintbars show when RSI is above or below overbought/oversold. * Exit point is when modified RSI crosses above overbought. * The RSI signal identifies the correct bar – helpful when analyzing other charts for backtesting. * The stochastic can be used for an entry point if the market is moving fast, but it’s a risker trade. 8:51
AM: Back to 3 minute chart; price bar starts flashing blue, indicating
classific stochastic is on the rise. Down trend still in place; stand
aside, no trades. The stochastic paintbars act as a filter when the
market is retracing. Note: The paintbars should be set at “update
intrabar” so that there is an early warning. Since this is a 3 minute
chart, the bar opens at 8:51, and closes at 8:54 – a few extra minutes
to watch for a setup on the 25 tick chart. 9:21 AM: bars start flashing red on 3 Minute chart. Chart2jpg:
Look for trade on 25 tick chart. RSI signals at 9:22. Higher risk to
enter on signal; lower risk to wait for price bar to be RED and BELOW
Keltner. 9:24 AM: High of price bar hits upper Keltner, RSI signals. Exit time. 9:26
AM: Chart3jpg - RSI triggers another trade. Price goes a tick below
recent low so I took the trade. Quick exit for a small loss when price
reverses and RSI triggers an exit. 10:35 AM: RSI on 3 minute
chart starts to rise, price is starting to break through mid Keltner,
but Keltner trend is still down. Stand aside, no trades. 11:06
AM: Price bars on 3 minute chart flash red and are below Keltner
mid-line. RSI headed down. Trend possibly resuming (bad time of day
though). RSI triggers, but price does not tick below recent low.
Here’s where discretion comes in – stop trading and go to lunch. Noon: 3 minute chart: Keltners turn up, but price never breaches upper Keltner for a market reversal. No trades. 1:00
PM: 3 minute chart: Keltners start to contract and turn down. RSI
has turned down. Price moves below Keltner mid-line. Price bars red,
start looking for trade on 25 tick chart. 1:12 PM:
Chart4jpg: Market is faster than indicators on 3 minute chart. RSI
triggers early. Riskier entry point using a stochastic. 1:43
PM: Chart5jpg: A perfect setup. Keltners on 3 minute chart angle
down, price bars red, RSI in oversold territory. RSI triggers several
trades on the way down on the 25 tick chart. JDK, This ELD has the Indicator while the one posted above was the Strategy. Are you correcting the Strategy? then, needs re-posting. I
had noticed the RSIModified Indicator had a smoothed average length of
15 while the Strategy had a length of 10. Is that the correction? TradingDude

JDK, Do you have an eld for classic stochastic? I don't get it in a search of the forum. Is the modified rsisignal the paintbar colors or am I missing something? Thanks |

JDK,
Great stuff. I love stuff like this! Thanks. I'm focused more on
Discretionary trading this year, but still find myself gravitated
towards mechanics. Tachyonv's and your posts are very educational. MARWOR, Here's a version of the Stoch Classic. I just took it from the paint bars. Attachment:DATA/20050424164804STOCH CLASIC VD.ELD 4149 bytes

Here's the file again. I must have attached the wrong ELD. This is the corrected Modified RSI signal. Attachment:DATA/20050424185054RSISIGNALMODIFIED2.ELD 2480 bytes Marwor,
the Modified RSI Signal are the arrows on the chart. There is an
PaintBar and Indicator as well - I assume that you downloaded these. If
there's a problem, let me know. TradingDude, yes I originally
attached the wrong file which was length 10 and not 15. All the
modified RSIs should be "smoothedaverage(close,15)5,30,70". |

JDK I didn't have the strategy thus no arrows--now I do. Thanks
for taking the time to not only post the elds but also the jpg's and
narrative of your thinking-- that was very generous -- thanks again |

jdk, very interesting strategy and thank you very much for the extensive work you offered here for an explanation of 'how to use' I
am new to TS and EL code and I have 1 ? - when I downloaded your
RSIGNALMODIFIED2.eld it does not paint the line in a gradient fill...it
is only red and blue. The paint bars will go to gray when in the area of
30-70. How can I change to see this gray area on the modified RSI
sub-graph? thx again |

Blue,
the "Signal" generates the up and down arrows. I think you're probably
referring to the paintbars? If so, to color the in between portion, go
to FORMAT, SYMBOL, STYLE, and just select a color for the HLC bar.
Hope this is what you're asking about. |

A
note of appreciation to Tachynov for sharing his presentation of the
October 2004 TradeStation Conference. Much thought, analysis, and work
when into defining a process that works for him in his trading style. Sharing
this type of information from a seasoned and experienced trader can
save much time and error from novice traders like myself. One still has
to go through all the permutations of adding complexity to trading
realize that simplicity is for most of us the way to go. It's nice to
have a veteran trader confirm what we discover along our journey and
give confidence and quidance to our developing trading strategies. Thank you for being always helpful and instructive to those of us along the way. |

Would
like to thank Tachynov for sending me his Keltner Channels presentation
notes. They are the most extensive info about Keltner and his strategy
that I have seen. I would sure like to purchase a teaching video if you
ever make one available. I am a end of day type trader and not into
systems. Have wanted to apply KC for years after reading about it in
Rasche book but the SW I was using back then (AIQ) did not offer it and
not be into programming it was beyond me. I look forward to getting TS
8.1 when it rolls my way and a chance to see what you have done with the
160+ variations. I am attracted to the use of double set of KC that was
shown on Ekam's Keltner's Price forum and would like to learn more
about that approach. Thanks for sharing your wisdom...Barney |

Thanks. Is there a setting that would allow the bars to stay full size? Seems that the Keltner compresses bars. |

tachyonv: I
think this 8.1 version of KC All has some issues with currencies that
are priced with > 2 decimal places even when round_control is set
> 2 to match the underlying symbol's pricing. The KCs are too flat.
It looks like the mid channel is calculated differently from the 8.0
version of KC All. A 21 EMA plotted along with the KC All on default
settings shows the disparity. I've emailed you about this as well. Thanks.
